Tante Girang Tajir Asia Cantik Niacin: Functions and Working Mechanism. Nicotinic acid (niacin) works to lower cholesterol and triglyceride plasma. This effect is only obtained in large doses (2-6 grams per day). Niasinamid is the amide form of nicotinic acid. Niacin and niasinamid the agency has a role in the metabolism of coenzyme for a variety of proteins that are important in tissue respiration. Both of these substances in the body is converted into active form, namely NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate). Although niacin is effective and cheap, niacin can be said to be used again as a hypolipidemic drug because it has many side effects, there have been new drugs that are safer. The primary use of this drug for the disease Pellagra and research (comparison) hypolipidemic drug. The drug is also known as factor PP (Pellagra Preventive). Pellagra is a disease caused by niacin deficiency with symptoms of disorders of the skin, gastrointestinal tract and CNS. The need niacin for prevention of pellagra was an average 4.4 mg/1000 kcal, in adults a minimum intake of 13 mg per day.
